Micromax Canvas 4 Lauched in India

Indian handset maker Micromax on
Monday launched its flagship smartphone, Canvas 4
at a price of Rs 17,999. The company claims that the
Canvas 4 sports full aluminum mid-housing and users
can now 'blow' to 'unlock' their smartphone.
The 5 inch HD touchcreen phone runs on a 1.2 GHz
Quad-core processor and operates on Android 4.2.1
Jelly Bean OS. The dual SIM smartphone has a 2000
mAh battery and a 1GB RAM. The 16GB memory is
expandable up to 32 GB.
The phone allows the user to view multiple videos at
the same time. The screen is sensitive to the user's
eye movements, hence pausing a video when he/she
looks away, claims the company.
The phone comes equipped with a 13 megapixel rear
camera that also allows 1080p video recording. On
the front is a 5 megapixel camera. According to
Micromax, it has already received pre-bookings of
11,500 for the device.
The Canvas 4 has a few additional features (apart
from the multiple video viewing and eye-sensitive
video pausing), that distinguish it from the company's
Canvas HD smartphone. While Canvas HD runs on
Android Jelly bean 4.1.2 , the new Canvas 4 has the
updated version of the OS. The camera gets an
improvement too, with Canvas HD having an 8MP rear
one and a 2MP front one.
For the security of Canvas 4 buyers, Micromax will
also offer an M! Security feature. Accoring to
Micromax, this offers security solutions including
back-up, anti-theft tracker, anti-virus.
Commenting on the launch, Rahul Sharma, Co-
Founder, Micromax said, "With the launch of Canvas 4,
we are yet again raising the bar for affordable
innovation. We understand that Micromax consumers
expect something new every time, and we would
continue to build on our promise to pleasantly
surprise people with innovations that directly address
their needs."

The Canvas 4 has a 5.0-inch, 1280 x 720 'TRU-
HD' IPS panel, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 13
megapixel rear camera with five element lens,
image stabilization, multiple face detection and
vertical panorama, 5 megapixel front camera, dual
SIM, dual standby functionality, expandable
memory, flip cover option, 2,000mAh battery and
Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean.
One of the unique features of this phone is Blow
to Unlock, wherein you essentially blow a kiss to
your phone to unlock it (yes, that's an actual
feature). Other, more sensible features include
video pinning to pin videos on the homescreen
and look away to pause video, stuff that's
straight out of Samsung's TouchWiz. You can
also turn the phone down during a call and it
automatically switches to loudspeaker mode.
The Micromax Canvas is priced at INR17,999
($295) and will be on sale this weekend in India.
